Things that make me 'me'

Meg is with us on Thursdays and Fridays and will be completing her placement in around November.
Meg's therapy support is provided at no cost, as she is currently completing her studies. She works under the close, weekly supervision of senior psychologist Beth McNamara, who reviews her sessions and ensures your care stays on track.

Meg has immediate availability to take on new clients. You're welcome to see Meg while remaining on the waitlist for another psychologist, so there's no need to give up your place.

Student Provisional Psychologist

Welcome! I'm very excited to be doing my psychology placement here at Very Helpful Chats. Like many other members of the VHC team, I'm an AuDHDer, a Spoonie and a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

If you're neurodivergent and have spent your life being told you're too sensitive, too intense, too tired, too much, this does not mean you're broken. You're not weak because your body has limits, and there's nothing indulgent about wanting to understand your brain, your body, and a life that doesn't require constant self-erasure. This is especially true when neurodivergence meets chronic illness, where it can be genuinely hard to untangle what belongs to your mental health, your physical health, your hormones, burnout, or just the exhaustion of a world that keeps asking you to function as though none of it overlaps.
Together we'll work on unmasking with curiosity rather than correction, build tools for burnout, meltdowns, and shutdowns, and find language for your needs, feelings, and limits so you can explain yourself without over-apologising.

Psychology
Especially the overlap between psychology, criminology, and the law (I have a crim degree!) Also nature versus nurture, epigenetics and how people come to be who they are. I am also very interested in how mental health diagnoses have been explained, feared, treated, misunderstood, or reinterpreted depending on the time and place.
Cultural analysis, Politics & Social commentary
Books, podcasts and articles that take a familiar idea and pulls it apart. I’m especially drawn to discussions around feminism, power, gender roles, moral panics, “trad wife” culture (one of my favourite reads of the year is Yesteryear).
Spirituality & Conspiracy Theories
The things people believe when there is no neat answer. UFOs, the afterlife, spirituality, cults, conspiracy theories, paranormal stories, near-death experiences. I love to learn about why certain ideas feel meaningful, comforting, frightening, or convincing to people.
