Our goal is to provide clarity

validation, and a deeper understanding

of how your brain works.

Our Assessment Process

  • Our neuro-affirming OCD assessment consist of 1-2 hours of interview time.

Appointments can be scheduled in one- or two-hour blocks, depending on your preference and capacity. Our team will work with you to structure the sessions in a way that supports comfort, pacing, and a thorough assessment process.

    • In your appointment, we will talk about your experiences of intrusive thoughts and compulsions using structured clinical interview guidelines informed by the DOCS and Y-BOCS-SC, review the DSM-5-TR criteria for OCD, and complete questionnaires including the OCI-R and VOCI.

    • If you are under 25, we ask that you bring a parent, carer or an adult you knew as a child.

    • If you are over 25, you are welcome to bring a support person.

  • You will be invited to complete online questionnaires prior to or during the assessment process. These measures help provide additional information about attention, executive functioning, sensory experiences, and other relevant areas.

  • Once the assessment process is complete, you will attend a 1-hour feedback session with your assessor.

    During this session, we will:

    • Discuss the assessment findings

    • Explain how they relate to diagnostic criteria (if applicable)

    • Provide recommendations for supports, strategies, or next steps

This is also your opportunity to ask questions and reflect on the information in a supportive and collaborative space.

We are here to move beyond outdated stereotypes and create space for OCD to be understood in all its forms. Our neuro-affirming team provides comprehensive OCD assessments that recognise the many ways OCD can present, including intrusive thoughts, mental compulsions, reassurance seeking, and patterns that may be hidden or misunderstood.

Our OCD assessments are trauma-informed and place strong emphasis on differential diagnosis, particularly between OCD and Autism. We explore whether repetitive behaviours or routines are driven by intrusive fears and compulsive processes, rather than reflecting an Autistic cognitive style. This distinction is especially important for individuals with a recent Autism diagnosis whose OCD symptoms may have been overlooked.

We also differentiate OCD from other anxiety disorders, neurodevelopmental differences, complex trauma, and related mental health conditions.
