Senior Psychologist

Hey Ghoul! I'm Yvonne, a senior psychologist at Very Helpful Chats. I was confirmed neurodivergent as an adult, and for me, it was like a light was finally turned on after living in the dark my whole life. I know personally the grief, anger and then acceptance of finding out later in life why things have always been different for me. I have learnt that no two brains are the same; that's what makes humans so interesting! Knowing how your brain works is like the keys to Disneyland. Once you know your brain, the world will be your playground. Despite all the challenges that have come your way, you overcame them enough to be here, and it's okay to be tired! It takes a lot to show up, and you're kicking butt to do that. I am here to listen (you are the expert, not me), and my role is to help you identify the dots, connect them, and explore the picture together. We will work together to identify what is challenging, why it's difficult and how to manage it so that it's the least exhausting way forward.

I will help you learn the 'why' behind the 'what' behind your struggles. I will help you better understand who you are, how your particular brain works and what you need to do to combat life's challenges. I will also teach you to accept and understand yourself, just as I did, of who you are, not what the world or society suggests to you.

My eye sparkles and SpIns (special interests) include: 

  • I LOVE the arts, museums, Broadway, Opera, plays you name it Ill probably enjoy it.

  • Street art and architecture (gothic is my favourite).

  • I volunteer for Wildlife Rescue

  • The beach or a waterfall is my happy place.

  • I'm studying Animal Assisted therapy with my kelpie Milo.

  • I enjoy playing board and cards games with my kids, and am the reigning mario kart champion

Fees

  • The standard consultation fee for a 50-minute appointment with Yvonne is $270. This applies to all clients, including privately paying clients, clients using Medicare or private health insurance and NDIS clients who are self-managed.

  • Fees for NDIS plan-managed clients are as per the NDIS price guide in your state for psychologists.

  • If you have a valid referral, Medicare rebates are available for appointments with Yvonne. A rebate means you pay the full fee first and then receive a portion of the fee back from Medicare.

  • Private health insurance rebates are available, depending on your fund and level of cover.

Appointments

  • Please click here to complete our waitlist and matching form. ​Our waitlist and matching form is designed to gather basic information about your needs to make sure we can offer you the service you need. This form also helps us match you with a clinician with the skills and experience to meet your needs.​​​

  • Once we can offer you an appointment, we will send you a second intake form. This second intake form includes our full consent form, and we also request your credit card, debit card, or PayPal details. Rest assured that we take card security seriously, and your details are stored securely on our client management system, Halaxy. This security measure helps us prevent theft and fraud. No one at Very Helpful Chats will have access to your card details.
