Naomi Penny
Provisional Psychologist (student)
Hi - I'm Naomi! I'm a neurodivergent psychology student doing my placement with VHC until December 2024. My focus is working with young neurodivergent people. Together we will break old patterns that no longer serve you, find your voice to advocate for yourself, work out how you want your life to look, and build confidence and self-worth. I know things are really hard at the moment. You should be really proud to be putting your hand up to ask for help and work through this all. So many people don’t take those steps and try to sweep things under the rug until it gets too much later in life. In our work together I will always show up in an inclusive, non-judgemental way, be strengths-focused and validating.
I offer:
I work with
I can see
Some of the things that make me 'me'
Other people may describe me as
Here are 3 things I believe with all my heart to be true:
-
Everyone deserves to be heard and supported
- We are all equal - no, ifs, ands or buts
-
Everyone is the expert of their own life.
By the time we finish working together, I would like you to:
-
Feel validated and heard
-
Have some tools to manage life’s curveballs
-
Know your needs matter.
More about Naomi
Home state: Victoria
My eye sparkles and SpIns (special interests) include:
-
Singing - I was a choir girl in school and wanted to be a professional singer, but life had other plans. I still sing every day at home. I mostly make up songs about what I’m doing or how cute my dog is.
-
Learning about other people's special interests - as a curious person, I love hearing about other people’s special interests and activities. From sheep to Taylor Swift, I’ve learned some amazing and interesting things from so many people!
-
Animals - every time I see a cat or a dog, it’s like the first time seeing one, and I feel all warm and fuzzy.
-
Plants - I started my plant obsession in COVID and managed to collect over 200 (go hard or go home I say). Unfortunately, as life’s gotten busier, they’ve had less love than they used to. But some are still hanging in there!
